HandsOnCelibacy asked: I counted the words in the first lesson and came up with around 20 words (exact number depends on what you consider separate words). With 10 lessons in the first unit and 19 units altogether in languages with two levels, that’s about 3,800 words.
I’ve heard that it takes knowledge of about 2,500 words to become proficient in the language and about 10,000 to become fluent. Rosetta Stone looks to me like it would put anyone well on their way to learn a language.
Back to my question, does Rosetta stone really teach that many words? Where can I find an official count? I wonder how many words those languages with three levels have.
(By the way, I’m not looking for your personal reviews of the software, just the word count.)
